Meet the ResoLute ToneSprings

The ResoLute uses ToneSprings (patent pending), which are specialized springs that are quick and easy to swap out on stage or in the studio.

Each ToneSpring can:

  • Produce an array of sound envelopes
  • Layer your music with distinct textures
  • Create its own unique attack and sustain

Get to know each one below!

Note: The following audio clips were recorded dry, with minimal post-processing.

Standard ToneSprings

Standard ToneSpring - Short

Short ToneSpring

$19.99 per pair

Fast attack, short sustain, and a sound that’s spritely and plunky in a good way.

Standard ToneSpring - Medium

Medium ToneSpring

$19.99 per pair

Perfect balance of fast attack, moderate sustain, and a presence that sings.

Standard ToneSpring - Long

Long ToneSpring

$19.99 per pair

Soundscapes that swell and soar with slow attack and long sustain.

Specialty ToneSprings

ToneRod

ToneRod

$19.99 per pair

Long sustain, fast attack, great for fast and accurate playing; can be plucked, picked, bowed.

Tremolo ToneSpring

Tremolo ToneSpring

$24.99 per pair

Fast attack, a pulsing tone, and very long sustain—the longest of them all.

Meet the ResoLute AirPick

Reinvent the way you play with the AirPick (patent pending). Unlike traditional guitar picks, it harnesses the power of magnetic resonance to generate sound—without ever touching the ResoLute at all.

Simply hover the AirPick above your ResoLute pickups to enjoy a more fluid, intuitive playing experience and infuse your music with:

  • Expressive dynamics
  • Unique sound effects
  • A new paradigm to explore

Note: The AirPick's red and black faces represent the North and South poles of its internal magnet. One pole only makes a sound when approaching a pickup. The other pole only makes a sound when drawing away from a pickup. This is a new and unexplored method of input, and we are extremely excited to hear what players will do with it.

Standard AirPick

Standard AirPick

$19.99 per pair

Ever played with a normal guitar pick? Hold your AirPick the same way, and strut your stuff!

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What’s a lute?

Any stringed instrument with a neck, including guitars, ukuleles, violins, cellos, and more.

  2. What’s the ResoLute?

A synthesizer-lute (patent pending) driven by magnetic resonance that blends analog sound with electro-physical input.

  3. How do I play the ResoLute?

Like any other lute—bow it, pick it, pluck it, or hammer it! Each ResoLute comes with two AirPicks (patent pending) for an ultra-fun, ultra-futuristic playing experience.

  4. What’s an AirPick?

A specialized guitar pick that uses magnetic resonance to generate sound without touching the ResoLute, allowing for dynamic and expressive sound control.

  5. Does the AirPick require batteries or a power source?

Nope! It’s as passive and low-maintenance as it gets!

  6. How do I strum with an AirPick?

Play a note by “picking” the air above one of your ResoLute pickups.

  7. How does the ResoLute work?

It uses a system of specialized springs that vibrate next to a pickup called ToneSprings (patent pending) instead of traditional strings, resulting in a fully analog synthesizer.

  8. Tell me more about the ToneSpring system.

It enables you to play with various ToneSprings, each with its own unique attack and sustain, as well as seamlessly swap them out mid-performance.

  9. What’s on the neck of the ResoLute?

Two pressure-sensitive membrane potentiometers that produce tones through their respective channels when pressed, allowing for clean, focused playing on each channel and ensuring the instrument remains in tune.

  10. How do I play an open string, or spring?

    By using the ResoLute capo!

  11. Explain how the ResoLutes are tuned.

Since it’s a physical and electric instrument, its base tuning is determined by its natural variations. All instruments are fine-tuned in the final step of production by testing the finished ResoLutes to determine their lowest in-tune notes and then marking the minor-pentatonic scale of that key onto each neck.

  12. Will I need to tune my ResoLute later down the line?

    Nope!

  13. How do the pickups and knobs work?

Each pickup has two knobs: a sensitivity knob that lets you fine-tune the physical input levels from the ToneSprings or the AirPick, and a saturation knob that sets the level or drive of the tone.

  14. Can I customize my ResoLute?

Yes! Personalize your instrument with a variety of ToneSprings, finishes, and other features. Left-handed options are also available!

  15. Are there ResoLutes for the lefties?

    You bet!

  16. How can I order a custom ResoLute?

    Send me an email.

  17. How can I learn to play my ResoLute?

A series of video tutorials is currently in production. Join our email list for updates! P.S. Don’t worry—we’re far too busy to spam your inbox.

  18. Where are the ResoLutes made?

Each ResoLute is handcrafted in Oklahoma City by Dano Scarborough with state-of-the-art circuit boards assembled by Keeley Electronics.
